A Great Book for Fans of Wonder: Ugly

If you are a genuine fan of Wonder by R.J. Palacio and all of the other book that go along with wonder (365 Days of Wonder, Augie and Me) then you will love this book. When I read and quickily finished Wonder, I instantly wanted to hear more about the main charecter Augie. I didn't want the book to end, so I was very happy when Augie and me came out! However, I feel like this book is just as good, and if not better then Wonder! Which is saying a lot! Ugly, by Robert Hoge is as nonfiction as it can get. This book is the life story of the author (Robert) who was born with a limb and facial diffrence. He had a very rough start to life. As soon as he was born he was rushed away from his mother and taken as fast as possible to extensive care! The doctors did not know if he would survive. However, he was perfectly healthy. Although when his mother was finally allowed to see him, she did not want him. She had several other kids and did not want to bring another child in who was so diffrent. Although, after about a month of considerationa nd several family meetings the Hoge fammily decided that they wanted to welcome a baby Robert into their lives. Eventually Robert ends up going to school and even learning to swim. However, the true joy of his life is Lawn Bowling. If you don't know how to lawn bown then I would recomend watching this video.

(Please note that the person in the video is not the Robert from the book. Video Credit: John Weisbarth https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC34YB5BNp6zeW-3by9OJavQ)

Robert devotes his life to lawn bowling and even get s a coach. However, his real goal is to join an adult bowl league as a child with a whole array of disibilities. If you want to find out how Robert manages to bowl and if he makes it on to his dream league then you should read this amazing book full of inspiration and written by a true stuborn fighter!
