Three Great WW2 Related Book to Read This Break

Many people are looking for some good books to read this winter. Bicycle Spy, Brave Like my Brother, and Bomb are three great historical fiction and non-fiction books to read this winter!

Bomb, By Steve Sheikin, is a truly amazing book! it is about the team let by Rober Ophenhimer that was tasked with building an atomic bomb to wipe out Japan in World War Two. However, the catch was that they had to beat the Soviets and the Nazis. Not only does the book describe the team creating the bomb in Las Almos a bought out school in New Mexico, but it talks about the teams sabotaging the German efforts. In particular the heavy water plant in Nazi-controlled Polland. The rest is history!

The Bicycle Spy by Yona Zeldis McDonough is a captivating story about a boy named Marcel. Marcel lives in occupated France and loves the Tour De France. He has books and posters all about the racers. All he wants to do is be able to watch the Tour so he is devastated when the war starts and the tour is canceled. However, he keeps on riding his bicycle. His parents are always asking him to take bread to other people on his Bike and one day he gets curious and looks int he bread. It turns out that he is taking secret notes to other people who help in the hiding and escape of Jewish people. At first he is devasted because he knows that his parents will be shot it the Fuher finds out! Brave Like My Brother, by Marc Tyler Nobleman, takes a new take on historical fiction of World War 2. Instead of a tradition dialogue, the book is written in the exchange of letters between brothers. One of which has been sent off to fight in England. When Joe gets taken to right in the war he writes to his 10-year-old brother Charlie as often as he can. Joe is nervous about his brother because he is being bullied and Joe is the only one who stands for him. However, being in touch with Joe gives Charlie new strength even in this dark time. But will it be enough to stand up to his tormentors?
