Have you ever felt like you are always diving into something but never following through and quitting as soon as things get tough! If so, then you are a serial quitter. This is just one of the many topics around the subject of quitting that Seth Godin's Amazing Book The Dip covers.

The dip is a simple concept, but it explains so much about why not everyone is a successful millionaire! In summary, the dip is one of the three most common things you might go through when trying something new, or doing something difficult. If you have ever started a big project or anything of that kind then you have probably experienced the dip. When you start something you are all excited at ready to go! However, as the project or challenge continues it begins to feel like a grind and not as much fun! However, if you pulling through the dip and keep on keeping on, then most likely it will pay off.

I'll use the chart above with an example of a marathon to help to describe the dip! When you start to run a marathon (I assume as I have never run one) you feel excited and rearing to go. However, once you really get going and you are tired and thirsty you want to stop but if you keep on pulling through you won't want to quit when you know the finish line is only a mile or so away. You will have pulled through the dip. But you don't have to take my word for it:
In 2017, 51,307 people started the NYC Marathon, however, over 1 thousand of these runners dropped out before the finish line!

There are three other types of things, like the dip: The Cul-De-Sac and the Cliff. Both of which you do not want to get on in the first place. To learn even more about these three types of effort and result read the amazing business
leadership book by marketing guru Seth Godin!
